Kulturhaus Neues Leben
Kulturhaus Neues Leben is an abandoned community center in a small village in Germany.
In many towns and cities in Germany, the term Kulturhaus refers to cultural centers that are dedicated to a variety of cultural activities. This abandoned Kulturhaus for example housed a big theater, disco, and a bowling alley. It was also a facility for other cultural purposes such as exhibitions, meetings, lectures, concerts, and receptions.
After the reunification of Germany, the name Kulturhaus was largely retained. But due to the funding stop by the federal government, many cultural centers were closed. They were sold or fell into disrepair.
Neues Leben survived the 1990s and is in a good shape today. The complex was used again in the early 1990s but was abandoned again in 2009. I visited the site in 2020. Follow this link for more abandoned theaters across Europe.
